Hudson Dealerships

Kresteller Motor Co - San Mateo, CA

4th and Railroad Avenue and 836 San Mateo Drive, San Mateo, CA. (Per 03/20/1953 and 06/11/53 newspaper ads.) Tidbits of an interesting timeline are as follows: There was a Kresteller Motor Co at 115 O'Farrell Street in 1933 that operated as a Ford dealership. Then at 2001 Market St. they operated as Ford up through '37 and a Deso-Plymouth from 1938-1941. There was also Kresteller Motor Co at 2355 Market Street [at Castro St.] that sold DeSoto-Plymouth in 1947. The Hudson franchise didn't come in to play until February of 1953. Kresteller Motors is still a very recognizable facility at the 4th & Railroad location and is now Endo Automotive. Morton Theodore Kresteller not only owned at least the Endo location, but was also a Desoto dealer on Market Street in San Francisco. His son, Morton Raymond Kresteller, became one of the foremost authorities on Auburns, Cords, and Duesenburgs. He was a long standing member of the Classic Car Club of America and many people around the area remember his 1934 Auburn Salon Phaeton, which was the 1971 car of the year. When the elder Kresteller died, the shop was inherited by his sister Barbara Kresteller who sold it to Endo.
