Gus Koehler In the automobile industry since 1922, prior to which time he spent ten years in Salt Lake City and the Utah territory in connection with office direction for mining companies, the Eccles Hotel company, and as office manager of the Independent Gus F. Koehler Coal and Coke company of this city. In 1922 he was employed as a salesman for the Willys-Overland in Portland. Signal success followed him and he had the unusual distinction of completing the largest single sale in the Pacific northwest when he sold 65 Willys cars to the Yellow Cab company of Portland. He was made wholesale manager in charge o£ the Oregon territory for that company in 1923 and in 1924 went to Seattle, where he was Oregon, Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana manager. He entered business for himself in 1921, buying an interest in the Transport corporation, Willys-Overland distributors. In 1930 he operated his own company in Seattle and Tacoma; liquidating stocks of cars for dealers caught in the depression slump. Completing that job, he was appointed by the Hudson Motor Car company, specializing first in used car sales in the east central states. In 1932 he became special representative in charge of retail and wholesale for the ten western states, which position he held until appointment as intermountain distributor for Hudson-Terraplane.
