Hudson Dealerships

Gifford Motors of Puyallup, WA

200 Main Ave E

Gifford Motor Company
W.H. Gifford, at left, is seen signing his 1954 franchise agreement. Mr. Gifford is well qualified to speak on the value of the Hudson franchise. He declares [in December 1953 Hudson Dealer News], "I value my Hudson franchise because I sincerely feel we ahve the safest, most economical and most beautiful car in the industry. This, together with the co-operative spirit felt through the entire factory and dealer organization, gives me as a Hudson dealer, a potential profit-making business unequalled by another franchise." S.D. Williams, at right, Portland Zone Manager, indicates that Gifford's opinion is typical of dealers in the Portland Zone. Dealership also advertised in 03/08/1953 Seattle Times newspaper ad.

Gifford Motor Company
1950s picture shows the Gifford dealership advertised on the side of a racecar at the SeaTac Raceway.

The Tacoma Public Library has two pictures of Gifford Motor Company as a Rambler and Hudson agency. One picture shows the Puyallup Roller Rink was in the upper level of the building. Looks like there may be a couple used cars on the lot, perhaps traded in on a new 1958 Rambler. In the other picture, a Hudson sign can be seen above the open garage bay doors. The building was destroyed by fire in 1965.
