There were two buildings on the property - one was the showroom, the other was the garage. Both buildings still stand today - the garage is still a garage and the old showroom is partly storage and partly used for front end alignments. The garage part was recently renovated, and they actually kept it looking more or less original. Mark Baker shares the following, July 2011: My Great Uncle Andrew Murphy’s Hudson Pontiac dealership In Kennebunk... The little two tone Convertible at the right center was used by my Second Cousin Andrew Murphy Jr. when he was a student at Kennebunk High School. He was Killed during World War Two on a B-24 Bomber that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean while it was heading to North Africa in 1943. The head mechanic that worked for him for many years is a gentleman by the name of Robert Barra, he is now 98 and lived for 64 years in a house that is “5 Doors Down” from the station. My Aunt Margaret used to work in the Office and the original roll top desks were in use for over 50 years until the retirement of one of the subsequent owners Jim Welch, one of the desks now reside in his home. [The other desk now resides with Betsy Tibbetts, daughter of Orren Tibbetts (whom married Ina "Nicki" Simpson after the war in 1946). See Tibbetts Pontiac above.] Thanks for posting this little snapshot of My family’s history.
